Rise Lite to Rise Start

Frequently asked questions

Rise Lite will no longer be available after November 1, 2021.

As Rise evolved into an all-in-one platform that seamlessly integrates payroll, HR, performance, time tracking, benefits and more, we wanted to further our commitment to a single people-centric platform rather than standalone products such as Rise Lite.

We’ve run the Rise Lite free payroll for 3 years for thousands of businesses; unfortunately it’s no longer sustainable, and we are focusing our efforts into further building and developing Rise to support the needs of businesses in our new normal.

We hope that our clients who have enjoyed Rise Lite in the past can justify the small fee for the value being offered with Rise Start, which includes not just payroll but essential HR features that help foster engagement and retention while cutting down on admin work.

Alternatively, we’re providing a 60-day window for free payroll to give our clients time to evaluate and decide which solutions best fit their needs.

I hope this helps clarify the reasons behind the decision.

If you opt-in to Rise Start by Oct 15, you save 50% off  your plan for 3 months.

Yes, you’ll get 50% off both the $30 base fee and the per employee per month plan fee for 3 months.

Yes, for accounts with more than 20 employees, the $30 monthly base fee does not apply.

The standard pricing for companies with less than 20 employees is:

  • New clients: $30 per month base fee + the per employee per month fee + implementation fees.
  • Existing clients: $30 per month + the per employee per month fee. There are no implementation fees for an upgrade.

The monthly base charge applies even if no payroll is processed as this fee covers fixed activities like T4s, ROEs, government remittances, reporting and live support.

Yes, the monthly fee is applicable every month for all active clients, regardless of how many pay runs you process.

Rise Lite: discontinued and will not be offered after November 1 ,2021.

Rise Start: If you want to continue on the Rise platform after November 1, 2021, you have to adopt Rise Start (or another plan) for a minimum monthly fee of $30+$6 per employee or a minimum $36 for a sole proprietorship type of organization.

Rise will withdraw our fee at the same time as we pull the funds to pay your employees and to cover the remittance amount for all taxes. A detailed breakdown of the money withdrawn from your account is always available under Process Payroll/Review Payroll History (Results).

5 business days.

Here’s how the migration process works:

  • From September 1 to October 31, 2021, companies can opt-in to a paid Rise plan by emailing smallbusiness@risepeople.com.
  • On November 1st, 2021, if clients have not opted-in, Rise will send you a deactivation email and then deactivate your account account.

Yes, we will finalize your T4s even if you opt-out.

The CRA would like to see one T4 per employee per company that they worked for in any calendar year. If you choose not to stay with Rise for the entire year, you should export the year to date data in Rise to your new service provider.

You will have access to your account for 60 days if you don’t opt-in by November 1st, 2021.
